LG Energy Solution Wroclaw Opens Daycare Center for Employees, Community

LG Energy Solution (LGES) is empowering employees with the strong belief that they are the most important customers to the company and that workplace satisfaction is pivotal in becoming the world’s leading company. It is also a business philosophy that Youngsoo Kwon, CEO of LGES, is committed to. This social value is embodied in every decision the company makes, most recently in the town of Biskupice Podgórne near Wroclaw, Poland.

With more and more employees juggling their work and parenting responsibilities, maintaining a healthy balance between the two has become a top priority. And for companies, caring for employees’ children equates to an investment for their sustainable future. With that, LGES Wroclaw recently opened its daycare center named “UL,” which means ‘House of Bees’ in Polish. As a result, its employees and local parents can now leave their children in the best possible care while they are at work.

Leaders of LGES Wroclaw as well as local and state officials attended the ribbon-cutting grand opening ceremony on November 29.

Built in mere 6 months, “UL” is the first community daycare center in Wroclaw run by a private business. Not only LGES Wroclaw workers, but the employees of its sister companies (LG Electronics, LG Chem and LG Innotek) and local residents can all benefit from the top-tier childcare services.

Currently, the facility’s 19 passionate teachers take care of around 100 children between the ages of 2.5 and 6 years old. With an overall capacity of hosting 200 kids, more families are expected to join the program. The center’s indoor facility boasts 1,582.17 m² (17,030 ft²) and the entire center, including a vast outdoor playground, spans across 7,079.82 m² (76,206 ft²). The extensive space offers plenty of room for various games and activities for the children to enjoy.

LGES Wroclaw expects to further develop the space in the future – thanks to its modular construction that enables additional expansion- to increase the comfort of the children.

Greg Kim, Senior Vice President of LGES Wroclaw, speaks at the podium during the grand opening ceremony

As the region’s largest private employer, LGES fully understands its duty to both its employees as well as the local community, and makes continued efforts to strengthen these bonds.

“LGES is committed to delivering a perfectly balanced work environment for our employees, allowing them to live their daily lives with more convenience and fulfilment. At the core of LGES, we are dedicated to our community responsibilities and we strive to be a caring company to all,” said Greg Kim, Senior Vice President of LGES Wroclaw.

Piotr Kopeć, Deputy Mayor of the Kobierzyce Commune, said, “We believe that the characters and quality of young people are formed in daycare center. Therefore, we take great responsibility for their education. When LGES Wroclaw approached us with this proposal, we embraced it with great enthusiasm. We are happy and proud to provide support in fostering the local community.”
