Lucja joined LG Energy Solution Wroclaw as an intern three years ago and has since worked her way up to senior specialist in data analytics and science. While she has prior experience in the battery and automotive industries after following in the footsteps of her father, her long-standing interest in Korean culture and cuisine is what sparked her curiosity and set her on this path with LG Energy Solution. “The job and opportunities I’ve received here align perfectly with my personal interests, so I can truly say that this is where I found my calling,” she shares.

Reflecting on her career so far, Lucja says she has never faced gender discrimination in the workplace. She believes that as long as someone excels in their job, they should be treated equally. “Ever since joining LG Energy Solution, I’ve always been treated with the utmost respect and have never faced any disadvantages or biases solely because of my gender,” she said. “As I understand this is not always the case, I’m even more grateful for this inclusive environment.”

For women aspiring to pursue a career in IT or manufacturing, Lucja encourages them to embrace every opportunity that comes their way with confidence—even if the field feels intimidating at first. She also states that the gender balance in technology is evolving rapidly: “Women should not fear entering male-dominated industries anymore but instead embrace the chance to be part of the change.”

When asked what female empowerment means to her, Lucja emphasizes solidarity and creating an inclusive space where everyone’s voice is heard. “We must ensure that our presence is visible, and our voices are heard. I will continue to pay close attention to any bias that may be directed at me or any other woman.”

Getting to Know Lucja Calus Better

Lucja Calus actively participates in various competitions and has introduced AI model training on radio podcasts. Check out the Q&A to learn more about Lucja!

1. What are your main responsibilities as a data analyst and what does a typical day look like for you?

What I love about my job is that no two days are ever the same. I wear multiple hats—Data Analyst, Scientist, Engineer, and more recently, DevOps (Development and Operations). Without a fixed routine, each day brings with it new challenges, from dashboard creation and Python programming to Docker containerization. I also take on more complex tasks like server and service administration and ML (Machine Learning) and DL (Deep Learning) model development. This ever-evolving nature of my work keeps me continuously learning, even when the tasks are tough.

2. As a woman working in data analytics, what has been the most rewarding moment in your career so far?

One of my proudest moments was delivering a guest lecture at the University of Economics in Wroclaw earlier this year, an opportunity made possible through our collaboration with the university. I spoke about time series modeling and clustering methods in Python. What made the experience even more special was that I am currently pursuing a master’s degree at the same university part time. Teaching fellow students was incredibly fulfilling.

3. Have you ever been inspired by a female role model or mentor in your career?

The most influential female figure in my life was my kendo instructor. Through her teachings, I gained a deeper understanding of myself, but the lesson that stayed with me the most is that true strength comes from the mind. The mind coordinates the body’s movements and helps channel power effectively. I apply this mindset to my work and daily life, especially when facing difficult tasks or stressful situations.

4. What has been your most significant personal or professional growth at LG Energy Solution?

Working at LG Energy Solution Wroclaw has been a journey of constant learning. I’ve gained valuable experience, received promotions, and had opportunities that broadened my perspective. But perhaps the most important lesson I’ve learned is how much more there is to discover. I see my growth as an ongoing process—I don’t want to define it too soon, as I fear it might lead to complacency. Instead, I choose to keep evolving and see where this journey takes me.
