Every year on June 23, International Women in Engineering Day (INWED) honors the achievements of women engineers and underscores the importance of gender diversity in the field. Initiated by the UK’s Women’s Engineering Society (WES) and supported by UNESCO, INWED inspires more girls and women to pursue careers in engineering and other STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields. One example is Anna Pielichowska, a technology professional in LG Energy Solution Wroclaw, whose expertise and passion are driving meaningful change in the energy sector. Anna’s journey is a powerful reminder that there’s no single path to a successful tech career. Starting as a machine operator at LG Energy Solution Wroclaw in 2017, she’s now the deputy director of production at Europe’s largest EV battery plant.

“When I started, I operated production machinery, conducted quality control, and ensured compliance with production standards,” she recalled. “At the same time, I pursued a degree in production management to gain a deeper understanding of processes and grow professionally.”

Learning about the business from the ground up, Anna steadily built her expertise by gaining hands-on experience with new and complex challenges. Her deep understanding of the production process fueled a passion for technology, innovation and continuous improvement.

In just eight years, Anna has earned five promotions, which she attributes to the support of those around her as much as her unrelenting determination and passion. “My team has been and remains my strongest support. I honestly wouldn’t be where I am today without their help,” she said. “Above all, I’m motivated by the countless opportunities to grow further.”

She shared that her enthusiasm for technology has been a driving force from the start of her career. “I’ve always been fascinated by how innovative solutions and machinery can reshape our world and the way we work,” she said. “From the very beginning, I knew I wanted to grow in an environment where progress and problem-solving go hand in hand.”

Although the tech industry is often seen as demanding, Anna believes women bring unique strengths to leadership roles. Qualities such as empathy, resilience, strong organizational skills, and the ability to build meaningful relationships help women excel in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.

She emphasizes the essential role of women in leading the future of technology, blending technical expertise with emotional intelligence to solve complex problems. Her advice for aspiring women leaders is to remain ambitious, goal-oriented, and open to change. She also highlights the power of empathy in fostering trust and collaboration within teams.

As a female leader at LG Energy Solution Wroclaw, Anna aims to make a meaningful impact on both her team and the broader organization. “Having been involved in every stage of production, I have a profound understanding of what employees need,” she said. “My goal is to build a supportive environment that motivates and enables my team to grow and perform at their highest potential.” She encourages innovation and ongoing improvement, believing that together they can achieve truly remarkable results.
