LG Energy Solution is actively supporting various initiatives to bring innovation to local communities. LG Energy Solution Wroclaw recently sponsored the latest edition of BioHackathon, which took place at Warsaw University of Technology’s Innovation Center from May 24 to 26.
With the support of LG Energy Solution Wroclaw, the 2024 BioHackathon promoted student collaboration and a better understanding of the great challenges within bioengineering. The event sought to emphasize a circular economy by encouraging teams to develop biotechnological methods for waste valorization. Teams of four or five had two days to create, develop, and present solutions while networking and sharing their ideas.
This empowered students to deepen their knowledge of the intersection between biology and technology, addressing industry-related problems together. Participants could also attend soft skill workshops and science lectures, with the scientific advisory board on site to provide expert feedback on their novel ideas.
Each contestant received one European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) point for taking on the challenge, with the overall winners claiming the grand prize of EUR 2,000 (USD 2,176).
Recognizing the importance of supporting events like the BioHackathon to advance Poland’s science education, LG Energy Solution Wroclaw calls its collaboration with Warsaw University of Technology another step in strengthening ties with academic institutions. This collaboration fosters young talent with its innovation and technology leadership so that they may shape the future under their vision.

On the cutting edge of innovation, this laboratory now provides hands-on learning experiences for over 200 students studying electromobility through electric drive control stations and rapid prototyping systems. This investment underscores LG Energy Solution Wroclaw’s devotion to developing local talent and advancing Europe’s global influence in electromobility.

Through LG Energy Solution Wroclaw’s supporting, the new Electromobility Laboratory is spearheading cutting-edge technologies and innovation. With advanced control stations for various electric drives and rapid prototyping systems, students can now get hands-on with their research and design projects.
Maciej Skowron, Ph.D., who serves as head of the Electromobility Laboratory, emphasized how being able to determine the various stages of energy conversion opens new possibilities. The new lab’s workstations are equipped with rapid prototyping systems that permit students to design their own Alternating Current (AC) and Direct Current (DC) motor control structures in various configurations.
Prof. Waldemar Rebizant, dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, expressed ambitions for further expansion, stating that the new laboratory was just the first phase in WUST’s plans to expand its research infrastructure. With the lab’s vast resources, the WUST can finally pursue research projects that were out of reach just a few years ago. This partnership marks another milestone in the journey towards autonomous electromobility.
