Over the years, LG Energy Solution has been actively contributing to China’s exceptional talent through various CSR initiatives, including the 7th China University Student Battery Innovation Contest at its Nanjing plant on December 17.

This professional contest, co-organized by LG Energy Solution and the China Education Support Project, focused on innovation in battery technology. It was held under the guidance of the China Automotive Battery Innovation Alliance (CABIA) and the International Automotive Engineering and Technological Innovation Strategic Research Institute (CSAE-AISI), a subsidiary of the China Society of Automotive Engineers (CSAE). The event also received strong support from the Nanjing Economic and Technological Development Zone, further amplifying the initiative’s impact.

Over the past seven years, the Battery Innovation Contest has evolved into a pivotal platform to drive educational innovation in the sustainable energy sector among universities, promoting the dissemination of scientific knowledge in this field. It has also become a vital arena for companies, industry organizations, and universities to collaborate on research and innovation in the battery sector.

This year’s contest focused on three key themes: battery technology R&D, application scenarios, and future development. A total of 638 students—spanning undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programs—from 83 universities across China took part, bringing the creativity of the nation’s brightest young minds together to inspire next-level innovation. Through this valuable initiative, the company discovered some amazing talent, unlocking the potential of the industry’s future innovators.

At the awards ceremony, gold was claimed by the “Li-Safe New Materials” team, a collaboration between Tsinghua University (THU), Beihang University, and Beijing Jiaotong University. Silver was awarded to two teams from East China University of Science and Technology, while bronze went to three teams representing the Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT), Nankai University, and University of Science and Technology Beijing. Each winning team set new standards in terms of innovation and technical expertise, injecting fresh vitality and hope into the future development of the sustainable energy industry.

Dignitaries from Nanjing’s government, leaders from various departments, and experts from industry and academia alike gathered to celebrate this prestigious occasion – a clear demonstration of respect and an acknowledgement of its contribution to broadening student perspectives and sharing valuable insights into the industry’s future.
