LG Energy Solution Wroclaw has maintained long-term engagement with the local community through CSR initiatives spanning workplace safety, education, and community development. Among them are the Safety Ambassadors initiative, the Korean Language Internship for Polish university students, and continued collaboration with the UL Public Kindergarten in Biskupice Podgorne.

In 2024, five of the company’s CSR initiatives were recognized as best practices in the 23rd edition of “Responsible Business in Poland. Good Practices 2024,” published by the Responsible Business Forum. They included the Healthy Summer 2024, Safety Ambassadors, Safety Day 2024, the Korean Language Internship, and flood relief support in Lower Silesia and Opole, which provided donations and financial assistance to affected communities.

A: At LG Energy Solution Wroclaw, corporate responsibility is a cornerstone of our strategy and a defining element of our role in the region. Our philosophy is built on the conviction that the company’s growth must go hand in hand with the development of the local community, and that all our actions – both internal and external – should generate tangible and lasting value. We understand responsibility as a long-term commitment that considers the impact of our decisions on employees, the local community, the environment, and our partners. This approach reflects our belief that a company does not operate in isolation; it is part of a local ecosystem and actively contributes to shaping the conditions for its development.

Our priority is to safeguard the continuity and quality of existing initiatives; therefore, we do not plan to launch new campaigns or social projects in the near future. We believe that responsible business requires consistency – and the most important element of that consistency is ensuring that these actions deliver long‑term results and remain deeply rooted in the local community.

How LG Energy Solution Wroclaw Contributes to the Local Economy

Lower Silesia has been home to LG Group operations for more than two decades and has grown into an important center for battery production and electromobility. LG Energy Solution Wroclaw’s manufacturing site in Biskupice Podgorne has added to the region’s industrial base and long-term development.

Over time, the company’s operations have supported employment, infrastructure, local businesses, and the wider industrial ecosystem. Through cooperation with public institutions and regional partners, LG Energy Solution Wroclaw is focused on how continued investment can create lasting value for the region.

Q. How does LG Energy Solution Wroclaw assess the economic impact of its investments in Lower Silesia, and what defines a resilient local economic ecosystem?

A. At LG Energy Solution Wroclaw, we take a systemic view of investments in the Lower Silesia region — seeing them as initiatives that generate broad, long-term impact and meaningfully strengthen the local economy. To measure this impact, we analyze both the direct outcomes of our projects and their indirect effects: the development of road and municipal infrastructure, increased employment, rising demand for services provided by local companies, and the increasing attractiveness of the municipalities surrounding our plant to investors. We work closely with local governments and regional institutions to monitor how our activities translate into improved quality of life for residents and the growth of local enterprises.

Lower Silesia has become one of the most dynamic regions in Europe precisely due to investments in electromobility. As highlighted by Polish media, this transformation began in Biskupice Podgorne, where our plant — the largest lithium-ion battery manufacturing facility in Europe — was established. The presence of LG Energy Solution Wroclaw has attracted additional investors, created thousands of jobs, and led to the development of new infrastructure — from roads and energy networks to service facilities. As a result, the region has earned the nickname “Little Seoul on the Oder,” becoming one of Europe’s most important technology hubs. This transformation is reflected in the numbers: according to data from the Central Economic Information Centre (COIG), 724 companies in Poland have South Korean shareholders, of which 44 percent operate in Lower Silesia, including as many as 198 in Wroclaw.

Importantly, the development of the ecosystem extends beyond industry. Wroclaw is actively strengthening its ties with Korea, as demonstrated by this year’s initiative to organize the annual Korean Day event, dedicated to economic, cultural, and social cooperation. This is further evidence that LG Energy Solution Wroclaw’s investments have become a catalyst for building lasting connections between the region and Korea, while the local ecosystem continues to grow across multiple dimensions: economic, technological, and cultural. Such initiatives enhance the region’s attractiveness, draw new partners, and create space for long-term collaboration.
