The Evolution of LG Energy Solution Wroclaw’s Korean Language Internship
When LG Energy Solution Wroclaw launched its first Korean language internship in 2020, it hosted 36 participants and focused on technical translations, with interns working alongside company translators on production lines. The program has since evolved into a more selective and professionally focused experience, providing intensive training that reflects changes in the day-to-day work of the Translation Team. Today, the internship exposes participants to varied professional settings and provides hands-on experience in interpretation and translation across business environments.
“Over the course of 10 editions, we have significantly changed the format of the internship. In the beginning, the groups were large, and we spent most of our time helping to translate technical details,” said Agnieszka Zagorska, Senior Translation Specialist at LG Energy Solution Wroclaw, who has been involved with the program throughout its evolution. “Today, interpreters work across a much wider range of settings, including on-site meetings with management, as well as off-site meetings, administrative-level discussions, official events, and visits.”

Developing Translation Skills in a Battery Manufacturing Environment
Following onboarding and required training, interns tour production lines to build an understanding of key battery manufacturing stages and related technical terminology. Through meeting simulations and assignments to specific production processes, they learn how to apply specialized terminology within an operational context. They then apply their translation and interpretation skills in actual business meetings across the company.
“Interns naturally develop new language skills, but just as importantly, they learn to be flexible and quickly apply their diverse knowledge in practice,” said Zagorska.
“Our interns appreciated the opportunity to interpret or translate independently, as well as the quick and constructive feedback after completing the task,” said Shugyla Tazhibay, Senior Translation Specialist at LG Energy Solution Wroclaw, on the value of the program’s hands-on approach.
How LG Energy Solution Wroclaw’s Translation Team Mentors Future Translators
Each intern works with an experienced translator from LG Energy Solution Wroclaw’s Translation Team throughout the program. Mentors manage meetings for specific production processes in their daily roles and help interns become familiar with the company’s organizational culture and industry-specific vocabulary.
This support reflects the Translation Team’s commitment to sharing insight into translation work with students. “From the beginning of the internship program, we wanted students from different universities to understand that our team is dedicated to translation,” said Agnieszka Szamborska, Translator Team Manager at LG Energy Solution Wroclaw.
Current interns also benefit from guidance provided by former program participants. “A few years ago, I was in the same position as an intern at LG Energy Solution Wroclaw. Soon, I will have been working here as a translator for three years,” said Malgorzata Prokop, Translation Specialist at LG Energy Solution Wroclaw and one of the program coordinators. “Our goal is to show students what the work of a translator looks like and familiarize them with interpretation that often needs to be handled on the spot.”
