Not simply striving for the success of its battery business, LG Energy Solution is always seeking new ways to serve the community and positively impact different localities. Over years of giving back, there’s one thing LG Energy Solution has learned: extending a helping hand lets it communicate and engage with communities on a deeper level.

LG Energy Solution Michigan embarked on a special initiative for Christmas. On December 7, 2023, LG Energy Solution Michigan team members gathered at a warehouse in Holland, Michigan to load hundreds of toys into a trailer and sort hundreds of donations. Charles Oh Young Hyun, President of LG Energy Solution Michigan, and Michael Benjamin, its HR Director, also joined in the heartwarming effort.

In addition to volunteering, LG Energy Solution employees also donated toys at their facility in Holland, which were delivered to local charities who then delivered them to hundreds of underprivileged children in the region.

Toys for Tots program, which began in 1947, is run by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve to collect toys and distribute them to underprivileged children across the country during the holiday season, in an effort to make sure no child misses out on Christmas. Charitable organizations like these are the lifeblood of local communities as they directly improve the well-being and development of the nation’s most valuable asset – children.

The major effort was led by Mark Petersen, Toys for Tots Lakeshore coordinator, and his wife, Michelle, two United States military veterans. They said that in 2023, they donated approximately 45,000 toys to various charities for underprivileged children in Allegan, Ottawa, and Van Buren County. The Marine Corps Reserve Lakeshore Toys for Tots services an area of approximately 5,500 square miles.

Having been partnered with the foundation since 2019, LG Energy Solution Michigan employees were quick to express their desire to donate their time to this meaningful event, as they always have. These good-hearted volunteers made it possible for Toys for Tots to gift each child a bundle of toys, making it a Christmas to remember for so many children while injecting holiday cheer into the local community.

LG Energy Solution hopes to offer its employees as many opportunities as it possibly can to give back to their local communities by donating time, their most precious commodity, to the less fortunate, hopefully instilling an even greater sense of gratitude and happiness. LG Energy Solution Michigan encourages volunteering among its workforce through collaborations with various charitable organizations and volunteering services, further emphasizing its commitment to social responsibility and employee engagement.

As previously highlighted, programs such as building homes with Lakeshore Habitat for Humanity and putting on high-turnout blood drives exemplify the initiatives it has undertaken in recent years. These programs are prime examples of LG Energy Solution’s commitment to community engagement and social responsibility. Looking ahead, LG Energy Solution pledges to continue its charitable endeavors within the local community to not only enhance visibility but also strengthen its bond with the local community and foster the most mutually beneficial relationships.
