- Gyuri Figiel combines data-driven decision-making with operational expertise to optimize manufacturing strategy at LG Energy Solution Wroclaw.
- She demonstrates how empathetic leadership and cross-cultural collaboration can strengthen team performance and drive sustainable growth.
On June 23, 2026, Women’s Engineering Society (WES) marked the 13th International Women in Engineering Day (INWED) in recognition of the remarkable accomplishments of women engineers across the globe. At LG Energy Solution Wroclaw, Gyuri Figiel exemplifies the analytical rigor and empathetic leadership required to manage the complexity of large-scale battery manufacturing, where every decision affects people, processes, and performance.

As the Part Leader for Planning within the Electrode Production Management Team, Figiel orchestrates the resources, budgets, and manpower required to power the future of electric mobility. Her unique position demands two seemingly opposite skill sets: the hard logic of data science and the nuanced art of cross-cultural mediation.
Figiel leads as the “brain and the bridge” of her department, aligning the site’s long-term manufacturing goals with daily operational realities. She dives deep into data trends to strengthen inventory controls, detect management systems, and address systemic inefficiencies.
“My job is to ensure that our resources, budgets, and manpower are aligned with our long-term manufacturing goals,” Figiel said.
By analyzing root causes through careful data scrutiny, she empowers the production floor to move from reactive firefighting to proactive optimization. “What drives my interest is the thrill of solving complex puzzle-like data,” she explains. “To me, material losses and defects are critical clues to improving our operational efficiency. It is incredibly rewarding to know that my analytical approach directly empowers the production team to solve technical challenges more efficiently.”
However, data alone cannot run a global enterprise. At LG Energy Solution Wroclaw, Figiel’s leadership places immense importance on navigating the intersection of Korean corporate culture and local Polish heritage. She recognizes that true collaboration requires empathy and a shared sense of purpose.
“My role is to act as a mediator who deeply understands both corporate cultures,” Figiel said. When friction arises between management styles or cultural expectations, she steps in to establish common ground and foster an environment where open dialogue can build trust. She places strong emphasis on listening and consistency, believing that modern engineering leadership is defined by these qualities as much as by technical acumen.
“I believe modern engineering leadership isn’t just about being tough – it’s about being precise, empathetic, and reliable,” she added. “Knowing that my team’s insights and hard work directly contribute to the company’s growth is amazing.”
Figiel’s journey serves as a powerful testament to the spirit of INWED. In a field often perceived as rigid, her leadership brings a distinct, vital perspective that values curiosity, self-belief, and the courage to voice unique insights.
For aspiring engineers, particularly women navigating male-dominated spaces, Figiel offers a clear message: knowledge and independent thinking matter more than conformity. “Battery technology is a dynamic, fast-growing field where capability and insight matter most,” she urged. “Don’t be intimidated by being the only woman or the minority in the room – bring your unique perspective, trust your analytical skills, and speak up with confidence.”
Through her work, Gyuri Figiel proves that the future of battery technology relies not just on chemical innovation but on leaders who can bridge data with humanity. Her story illustrates how women are not just participating in engineering – they are redefining what it means to lead in the industry.
