On October 3, Lakeshore Habitat for Humanity hosted the Friends & Family Open House, a fundraiser set up to have a positive and supportive impact on the people of the local community. LG Energy Solution Michigan, the organization’s long-time partner, took part as a valued Wall Raiser sponsor.

Lakeshore Habitat for Humanity, a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) based in Holland, has provided affordable housing to local families since 1990. LG Energy Solution Michigan has been collaborating with this notable NGO as one of its community partners to sustain its ongoing commitment to improving the quality of life for local families through affordable housing initiatives.

At the open house event, sponsors and participants gathered to engage with the initiative’s meaningful purpose while enjoying activities such as a barbeque and face painting. During this event, Lakeshore Habitat for Humanity introduced four key areas it has committed to raising funds for. The first of these areas is the Vista Green Project which aims to raise $70,000 for each of the 18 Habitat homes to be built on the plot of land.

In total, a large group of volunteers, which includes LG Energy Solution Michigan employees, will build a neighborhood of 42 affordable homes under the vision of the Vista Green Project, ensuring that homeowners are never charged more than 30% of their monthly income. Since LG Energy Solution Michigan became a Premiere Sponsor of the Vista Green Project last year, numerous employees have been actively participating in the efforts to build residences to high-quality standards, so that families less fortunate than them can enjoy their brand-new homes to the fullest.

As a result of this enduring partnership between LG Energy Solution Michigan and Lakeshore Habitat for Humanity and others, the construction of a new family home for Navy veteran Andrea Martinez was completed at Vista Green mid-September. This new home was able to be built over the course of just a week thanks to over 80 volunteers coming in from various organizations – including five LG Energy Solution Michigan employees and veterans.

Terry Ferrier, an Air Force veteran now working as a senior recruiter at LG Energy Solution Michigan, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to participate in this event and emphasized LG Energy Solution Michigan’s contributions to making the lives of veterans wishing to own a home better.

“It’s all about that teamwork, that connectivity. It doesn’t matter what branch of the service you’re in. When you have that connectivity, it’s really easy to come together for any type of a project. It’s like giving back to the veteran community, and the military community has given so much to us. When veterans need help, we just need to rally around and make sure we take care of each other,” said Terry in an interview with WOOD-TV. “LG Energy Solution is a great company. We’re standing up more veterans on a daily basis and we’ll continue to do that until we fill every position with veterans.”

Meanwhile, in addition to supporting Lakeshore Habitat for Humanity, LG Energy Solution Michigan is constantly carrying out initiatives to offer a helping hand to the local community – such as hosting blood drives at the Versiti Blood Center to fulfill its social responsibility as part of its ESG vision. To strengthen the social resilience of local families, LG Energy Solution also implements various activities that aim to bring sustainable changes to society, providing opportunities to support the self-reliance of socially vulnerable people. To this end, LG Energy Solution will continue to get involved in volunteer projects while strengthening its bond with the local community.
